ABOUT OUR SENIORS PROGRAM

Boroondara Eagles offers teams for Senior Men and Women in a range of grades.

SENIOR MEN

In 2014 Boroondara Eagles joined forces with Old Carey to form the Senior Men’s arm of the Club, Boroondara-Carey Eagles. This affiliation provides access to first class facilities at to Boroondara juniors and Carey Grammarians at Macleay Park in Balwyn and Carey Sports Complex in Bulleen. Boroondara-Carey Eagles currently has three teams across varying levels with the Senior team competing in FFV State 4 League – North. The Club actively encourage players to coach at a junior level and there are currently 12 senior men coaching junior teams at the Club.

Matches are played on Saturdays and Sundays and team training is Monday and Wednesday, except for pre-season where some training is Tuesdays and Thursdays. Depending on the grade of the team, training will be one or two nights per week. Latest updates can be found on the Boroondara-Carey Eagles Facebook page.

SENIOR WOMEN

BEFC’s first women’s team was formed in 2011. There was two teams, State 3 NW and Metro. State 3 NW went through undefeated and were promoted to State 2 NW. In this year the club had seven Year 12 players and this is when our year 12 policy was developed.

BEFC finished 2nd in this season. However since two teams in State 1 dropped out before the start of the 2013 season, BEFC took up the offer to be promoted to State 1. Incredibly we won State 1 by beating Monbulk in the very last game of 2014 which saw BEFC in the Womens Premier League. BEFC had progressed in through the leagues in only three seasons. In that year we finished third which was the best result for a newly promoted team in about a decade.

In 2015 we won the Team Ap Cup. We won the league and lost in the grand final in a penalty shootout. That year we developed a model to allow our senior players to also coach the younger members of the club which is a model that continues today.

In 2016 BEFC won State 1 SE under coach John Kyrgios who we are fortunate enough to have coach again in the 2017 season.

WE NEED MORE PLAYERS AND PLAYERS WHO CAN COACH TOO!
