In accordance with this, the Boroondara Eagles FC (BEFC) will suspend all current training during these dates and continue to assess the impact to the season commencement leading up to 18 April 2020.

As a result of increased uncertainty around COVID-19, the BEFC Board of Directors have assessed a variety of scenarios that could further play out into the future ranging from a reduced season, extended season, or cancellation of the season altogether. The BEFC Board continues to work with Football Victoria and other key stakeholders and constantly reassess all these scenarios and provide members updates to all our club members.

In preparing for a worst-case scenario, we are also evaluating the impact of member and sponsor reimbursements options. Some expenses like council fees, coachesโ€™ fees, team entry fees and insurances have been paid for the 2020 season. That said, the financial stability, strength and size of our community club affords us the ability to respond appropriately and in our membersโ€™ best interests across the range of scenarios we face.

The past few days have been extremely challenging and almost surreal for our community. In a time of uncertainty like this, we do know one thing. Football has the power to unite. BEFC will continue to work to support our community and offer continued service and advocacy for our members, even in the event that the situation requires delivery of a modified program. Itโ€™s part of that special cultural fabric that we possess and are proud of.

If we canโ€™t be together in person for the moment, letโ€™s come together on social media. Tell us your stories. Tell us youโ€™re ok and weโ€™ll make sure we will also keep you up to date on our ongoing assessment and updates on the processes.

In the meantime, stay safe, stay healthy, protect your loved ones and come what may, rest assured we will always put the interests of the Boroondara Eagles FC members first.

We ask for your patience during this time, as our team of volunteers work through the situation.

Please be assured that we will be constantly reassessing the situation as more information and guidance comes to hand and keep you informed of all the latest developments and courses of actions our season could take.

Yours sincerely,
Chris Constantine
President, BEFC

** UPDATE – current suspension extended until at least May 31, 2020
